🍋 Garlic Lemon Salmon with Steamed Broccoli

There are days when I just want something quick, healthy, and comforting — and this dish is one of my go-tos. Garlic Lemon Salmon with Steamed Broccoli is the kind of meal that looks elegant enough for a dinner table but is so simple, you can pull it together on a busy weekday.

I love how the salmon turns out perfectly flaky and moist every time, with just the right kick from garlic and the brightness of lemon. Paired with tender broccoli, it’s fresh, light, and nourishing without being complicated. Honestly, it feels like something you’d order at a restaurant, but you get to enjoy it at home in under 20 minutes.

🛒 Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 150–200g each)

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • Juice of ½ lemon (plus extra slices for serving)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 medium head of broccoli, cut into florets

👩‍🍳 Steps

  1. Prepare the broccoli

    • Place the broccoli florets in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and let them steam for about 5–6 minutes until bright green and tender but still crisp.

    • Sprinkle with just a pinch of salt when done.

  2. Cook the salmon

    • While the broccoli is steaming, heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.

    • Season both sides of the salmon with salt and pepper.

    • Add the salmon to the pan, skin-side down if it has skin. Cook for 4–5 minutes without moving it so it develops a nice sear.

    • Flip the salmon, add the minced garlic to the pan, and cook another 3–4 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.

  3. Add the lemon finish

    • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon right before taking it off the heat.

    • Toss the broccoli lightly in the leftover pan juices (optional but delicious).

  4. Serve & enjoy

    • Plate the salmon with the broccoli on the side. Add an extra lemon slice if you want that fresh zesty kick.

🌟 Why I love this dish

This recipe is proof that healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring. The salmon is rich in omega-3s, the broccoli adds a big dose of fiber and vitamins, and the garlic-lemon combo ties everything together with so much flavor.

It’s light but satisfying, and every time I make it, I feel like I’m giving my body exactly what it needs. Plus — minimal cleanup, which is always a win in my book!
